Top GPUs of 2023

It's almost a clean sweep for AMD in the best graphics card contest right now. Or, it would be if it weren't for Nvidia's blisteringly fast RTX 4090(opens in new tab). That's not for a lack of excellent Nvidia GPUs over the past year or more, it's simply because AMD's current graphics card lineup is better value for money, nowadays—despite Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang having proclaimed that "Moore's Law is dead(opens in new tab)".
There are plenty of GPUs going for under MSRP right now, and almost all of them are AMD graphics cards. That's why you'll see some cards we didn't love all that much at launch now making it into this list of the best.
We are getting to the time of year when the best graphics cards might not be the best graphics cards for much longer. Nvidia's RTX 4090 has already made mincemeat of most of the RTX 30-series in performance, albeit for a massive price tag, and soon we'll see AMD's RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT join the fray.
We suggest avoiding the high-end RX 6950 XT and RTX 3090 Ti, as you'll be able to get more performance for your money in a few months. More budget-conscious GPUs like the RTX 3060(opens in new tab) or RX 6600 XT(opens in new tab) are not as likely to be replaced by shiny new cards immediately, however, so these are the cards we're currently recommending. Well, one of them anyways.
